Reaching out to Refugee children and youth to create community and mentor leaders.
Refugee Kids Connect expands to 5 sites in Spokane
With the help from Grants awarded from Hemmingson Philanthropy, Innovia Foundation, Smith-Barbieri Progressive Fund, Spokane County United Way and School's Out Washington, RCS was able to expand our refugee youth centered after-school program to 5 apartment complexes in Northwest, South Hill and Northeast neighborhoods in Spokane. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have changed how we plan and implement activities with our young people, serving them by delivering free boxes of food from local food pantries, supplementing their school assignments with fund and educational activity kits and providing them with much needed school supplies. Likely, due to the phased in return to normal, we will likely be continuing this effort into the summer for now and will consider our plans into the fall dependent on Spokane Regional Health District and Spokane Public School District guidelines.
